Mayor Newsom's Girlfriend Issues Apology through the I-Team

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's girlfriend has issued an apology via the ABC 7 I-Team tonight, for comments she made on a local political website. Actress Jennifer Siebel posted a comment this afternoon on SF-ist, blasting Ruby Tourk -- Newsom's former appointments secretary with whom he admitted having an affair.

Jennifer Siebel wrote about Newsom and Tourk on the blog, "It was a few nothing incidents when she showed up passed out outside of his door. Come on guys, have a heart. I have tried to see Ruby's side of the story, but unfortunately everyone near to her has stories and says she is bad news."

The I-Team reached Siebel at her Beverly Hills home tonight, and among her comments, she said, "I've never blogged before. It's been totally blown out of proportion. I'm a nice girl and don't deserve this. I apologize to all parties involved."

Somehow, we don't think this is the end of the controversy -- we'll stay on top of it.

One had hoped that the supposedly democratic, transparent, open blogosphere would accept that my friend Jennifer Siebel had an opinion, without attacking her personally, as many blog-commenters had done. It appears many in San Francisco are not ready for opinions in politics without them being filtered through the political-correctness department, the contrary stance of the many Americans who keep telling us they are tired of the double-talk of public life. We are not as progressive as we might think.

Gavin should choose his flings or girlfriends (as they call themselves) more wisely. They are all making woman look very bad.

Ok here is how I see it. Jennifer, Ruby and Gavin all like publicity. What should have been a private matter was splashed around the world. Oh and Jennifer playing the innocent victim here won't work, the true person in that role should only be Alex Turk, he was not only lied to by his wife but his boss. So everyone let this story go away, you may feel the need to go public but come on, this is so not important in the grand scheme of life. Oh and to all involved you are and were consenting adults. And to those who don't like the public outcome, there is always the words, 'No Comment.'

KGO ABC 7 News when you want to show Jennifer, plan more appropriate photos of her. At the family dinner hour, seeing the photos, was really not in good taste. Kids watch the news!
