Tony Hall Quits Mayor's Race
I just got off the phone with former San Francisco Supervisor Tony Hall. He was widely considered to be the most serious opposition to Mayor Gavin Newsom’s re-election. He announced his candidacy to us just three months ago. Hall tells me he is pulling out of the race: “The support just isn’t there.” Hall says many of the big donors who would be his supporters are afraid of coming out against Newsom, with such a huge lead in the polls. “Maybe what’s better for the city is another dose of this cat and their spin machine.”

TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN?
I saw that Tony Hall qualified for public funds before he quit.
Is he going to return the public money or keep it? Is he going to return his contributors' money or keep that?
As a donor to his last Supervisorial campaign I was disgusted to see Tony spend his campaign warchest, after he did not to run last time (because he got apponited to Treasure Island.) Is he going to play the same trick again on people... take the money and not run?

That's a good question! I gave him money too when he ran for the Board. And I was angry, insulted and disgusted that he spent it on trips to Napa and other personal items.
Is he going to return my taxpayer money this time?!?!?
Or is he going to remain dilusional and under the impression that his 15 minutes aren't up?

It's a Too Chicken Race. May the Burning Man win!
With nothing but static to the Left of the radio dial and Tony Hall on the Right, I would have hoped he stuck around awhile - campaigning for my "Soul" Goal: Clean, Safe streets.
Still, Gavin Sucks.com Endorses Newsom!

Tony will still have to go to the Department of Elections on Friday to formally withdraw.
He has not received a cent of taxpayers money, and wouldn't have received anything until late September had he qualified and remained in the race.
As for returning his contribu-tions, there are different
rules for campaigns where the candidate wins the election than where a candidate withdraws or doesn't win. Tony will have a finite period to either return his dontations, minus expenses, on a pro-rated basis or contri-bute the money to charity or to the City.

GOOD RIDDANCE!
Tony Hall had a lingering reputation problem as supervisor, lack of TRUST was his REAL problem. A former Mayor Willie Brown, "BROWN NOSER".
