This afternoon, I sat down with “Sexfairy”. That’s the screen name for the woman who received child porn from former KGO Radio host Bernie Ward and called police. Months ago, she told me she couldn’t do an interview until the trial ended and that she would speak with me, once it was over. She kept her word, and she answered all my questions. The wide-ranging interview will be the subject of an I-Team report on ABC 7 News at 6 and 11pm Thursday. But, I want to give you a flavor of our discussion. At one point, I asked her, “With your help, the police got more information, the FBI took it over, Bernie Ward’s been prosecuted, he has now pleaded guilty, he has lost his career, he’s going to prison. What do you think about that?” She answered, “I think that he needs to sit in that prison cell and I think he needs to think about what he did. What he did didn’t affect just one person, it affected those children that he had on that computer screen that are all over the internet, it affected me, I was highly stressed, it put me into a deep depression for four years. And I think he needs to sit there and I think justice has been served.”
In preparation for our reports on Thursday, we’ve decided to publish the transcript of Bernie Ward’s online chats with Sexfairy. It formed the basis of the criminal case against him and has been published in full elsewhere. You may want to reference the transcript, once you’ve seen our stories this week. I want to say this in the strongest terms possible – the transcript is graphic and should not be viewed by children.
Based on the transcripts, he is really a sick person! It would be nice if he could get some assistance but based on his past history, I don't believe that's available to him. I'm not convinced there's any way to help him. May be stay locked away from children forever!

If that was just role play, of Bernie acting, as part of his going underground into the internet-sex subculture, then Bernie is not sick by any measure. What Bernie did was a victimless crime for possibly a very legitimate reason. SexFairy seems to be the one with the real problem: depression for 4 years? I'm suspicious about her story and her connections to the right-wing. Has that been investigated, I wonder?

Obama was asked by David Gregory if Don Imus should be fired for the racist comments (knappy headed hoes) he said , I paraphrase, "I'd fire him. I have daughters and they might want to play basketball someday, blaa, blaa, blaaa. Then he turns around and packs those same kids in the family stationwagon and run over to church and hear Reverend Jeremiah Hate spout his hatred towards America and white folks and then refer to C. Rice as CondaSLEAZA Rice. That's as bad as what Imus said. But Imus is white. And Obama's mentor can say the most racist things about whites, jews, and blacks who happen to be Republican and that's OK. I am long time KGO fan - never a Bernie Ward supporter. I'm out of state, not able to follow the local situation but can listen to KGO after 10 PM.
I am just VERY curious about the reaction to tonight's Channel 7-KGO news segment re: BW.
I am also very curious about the status of BW and his wife....is she standing by him? Is there local coverage of this part of the story? Not to mention his children. I understand one is in Med school another in Law school...are the younger children at "home with him"?

kgofan: I missed the news segment of which you speak, this evening. Would you please summarize? (I'll trade you that for some answers to your questions.) One is in law school, one is not in med school, but I predict will end up there, & she may have already made such a decision.(She's still an undergrad.)
There is only one child, I guess, under 18. He graduates from high school this month.
I do not know his marital status. At this point I would have trouble staying with him were I his wife, even if I were to feel compassionate about offering financial support. The level of perversity/involvement is beginning to be fairly complex & chronic, as more & more revelations come out, including those on Brian Copeland's show on Sunday morning recently. I would be questioning the very foundation of my relationship with him & whether I truly knew the man I married.
So please enlighten about the contents of the news segment you mention.

sfnative, perhaps I mispoke. *Somewhere* I read the transcript of Dan Noyes' interview with "Sex Fairy". My understanding was that the segment was to be aired Tues night.........as often happens when surfing around I cannot find that information at this point. Perhaps that had already aired? Maybe last week (on the 15th)?
Wish I could have heard Brian Copeland's show last Sunday....I only know what I've been able to find online.
I just find it odd that the media has not hounded his wife and we have not heard more about her situation. But.....maybe the media is respectng her privacy - as they should.

I'm very glad that the media has not hounded his wife, & hopefully she can salvage her to-date upstanding life & accomplishments. I credit her with enormous strength for even retaining her sanity, previously & now. I pray that the children will not be permanently harmed.

You know.........among the things I disliked immensely (to put it mildly) about BW's show was when he was obviously reading and would drone on endlessly about some subject. Now knowing what the person working on his show said she saw (walked in on him masturbating on air).....it makes me wonder if he was carrying on internet sex at the same time he was railing against Bush. It might account for his "boring sermons and diatribes"...
I'm a Dem - will be more than happy to see the Republicans escorted out for 4-8 years but I also like to hear both sides of a debate. Present it in an informative, open way - and I will listen. Bernie was boring....

That had been some time ago.......(as I said I'm out of state and can only listen after 10PM). Does Brian Copeland continue to be on the air?
Has there been any more information re: the "SexFairy" IM's where he talks about his own children.....was he actually bringing them into these discussions, watching his daughter "tease" her brother and his friend by stripping? Did he actually compare penis size with his son and perform oral sex on him??
I know I must sound like a pervert myself.......I just cannot imagine the fall-out from this mess and wonder the state of his wife and family.
